Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
When I read these verses I knew these were some of the verses I was looking for a couple days ago when I was was thinking about how I'm becoming too comfortable with my life and not having an eternal perspective. Paul says here that "as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord" and that is the truth in my life. When I get too focused on "my" life, I stop thinking about God's bigger plan and purpose. I start living by what I see in front of me instead of living by faith. My prayer is that I would truly "prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord".
