And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.
I realized that these are also Jermaine's verses, but they also stood out to me. Haven't really read Jerm's post yet. But will read it after my post.
As I read these verses, I was amazed at Paul's faithfulness toward God's work. Not knowing exactly where he would be, what he would do, Paul just moved as the Spirit directed, even as warning of dangers were ahead of him. I'm amazed at his humbleness, knowing that his life is not his own, his aim to honor Christ. Being warned that it could be the end of his life, he still moved with the comfort in knowing that God's Spirit was with him. This is something that God is teaching me. I think too much about myself. Worry too much. Knowing the Spirit is with me, I need to move on. He will direct every step of my way. Sometimes I'm hesitant to move because I only see so far, but God's saying to me now, take one step at a time, and He will show me the way. It's more burdensome to carry my own load than to carry God's load.
