Luke 10:19-20

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

I can identify with these disciples who are pumped up b/c they got to experience and see God work thru their lives in tangible ways, and I also know that the warning Jesus shared with them is one that I need to be mindful of. Jesus warned them that their joy and excitement should be b/c of their relationship with God and citizenship in His kingdom, and not b/c of the power God gave "them" or what "they" were able to do. I know for me, I can get on a real spiritual high when I see God working thru my life to impact others, and one thing I struggle with is that I start to focus on the compliments or words of encouragement others share with me. I start getting excited b/c of what others say to me instead of acknowledging God for the work He did thru me. I need to continually keep my eyes and heart focused on God and recognize His work in my life vs focusing on what others recognize in my life.
