For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."
When I read this passage/verse again today, it suddenly dawn on me that Jesus was without sin. I knew that He was, but I saw today that not only was He without sin to God the Father (in a spiritual sense), He also was without sin to the judge's eyes; Pilate found Him without fault. This verse reminded me that Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God, sacrificed to atone for our sin.
